PHILOSOPHY

Interior designer Arden Stephenson brings together her vast knowledge and education in the history of art, architecture, interior design and the decorative arts to create uniquely individualized interiors. Her personal preference is for mixing mid-century modern with period pieces and classical elements of many origins; her style characteristically is best described as ‘tradition redefined.’
Arden constantly looks to the past for inspiration without being confined to one specific period but instead, relies on an array of historical references while infusing the elements with a modern day twist. Her signature style brings together the influences of her travels and extensive studies abroad in France, Italy and England together with her well-trained eye and professional experience of twenty years as an interior designer living and working in New York City.
Grounded in the study of history and architecture, Arden firmly believes that the most important part of any project begins with good architecture. Working in tandem with an architectural team and trade specialist, she creates a seamless integration of architecture and the interior. The decorative elements are subtle and layered simultaneously throughout every aspect of the design.
Arden manages each project from inception of the overall schematic design down to the smallest detail of every decision. Therefore, it is with an emphasis on proportion, scale, form, texture and light that her spaces take shape with balance and beauty. It is through the design of elegant and harmonious interiors that Arden successfully creates an interesting, functional and beautiful reflection of her client’s individual lifestyle.
